Last night I went out with my sweet friend, Gracie, to Rockin' Crepes in Huntington Beach (my first time going to an actual creperie!). Turns out this place is a bar-style-type-cafe (Is that hard to imagine?) that serves crepes with names of big-hair 80s metal bands... Does that seem weird to anyone else??? Crepes seem so foo foo and bars with heavy metal playing in the background are the opposite. Nobody says, "Hey bro!!! Lets go to the local bar and get some crepes and beer..." (Am I right???)

Anywho! Gracie and I had a grand ol' time talking about our favorite topics: the Lord, His Word, godly relationships, true love, faith, life... We also engaged in an interesting conversation with a lone, elderly man sharply dressed and with a strong personality. We spoke of the true meaning of hard work, war veterans, and taking pride in our respective heritages. Are bars/cafes/creperies usually places where you get into meaty conversations about the deep things of life? I was kind of surprised.

The crepe we shared was uhhhmazing! (Iron Maiden: nutella, bananas, and strawberries!!) I also had a "Styx" panini. It was delish until they told me they ran out of my side dish of macaroni salad and gave me 3 grapes and a sliver of an orange instead. (Kind of insulting, no? Haha!) Ok, ok. I wasn't that sad about the lack of mac... And overall it was an enjoyable experience... But I doubt I'd go back to Rockin' Crepes. It's suuuuper far from my house, but if I was closer, then I definitely would frequent the place for a chance to have some tasty crepes & some more deep conversations...

The LEAP YEAR Letter

Now I should explain some things... At the time this was written, Lovey and I had discussed getting married, but we were not yet engaged. We were hoping for a miracle and a November wedding that year (We ended up marrying in July). There was so much uncertainty in the air about his job, my job, and life in general. WOW! In retrospect, really not much has changed. My parents are alive and in fairly good health(BARUCH HASHEM!). I still don't see Lovey certain days because he has school...We do not go to the mens and womens Bible study group we used to go to (We've moved on to other studies). And we are currently in a ministry that reaches out to lower income families. Lovey does teach a Bible study (Yay!!) and Goli (my pup) is still as crazy as ever. Yes, certain people aren't healed yet, but for the most part the Lord has answered my prayers...And for those He has not answered (re: kids), we wait.

Well...time to write my Leap Year letter for 2016! WOOOOOOWWWWW!

PS. I have a million typos in that sorry...

PPS. Some of you were wondering how Lovey reacted to this letter when I read it to him. He loved it. He pinched my cheek, gave me a kiss, and asked, " Why are you so cute?!!"

A Little Ordinary...My To-Do List

So my weekend is turning out to be fantastic! Lovey is bringing me lunch today, my sister dropped off a HUGE bag of clothes she doesn't want anymore, and I just found out my other sister is coming to town this weekend!!! Funny how so many things had to be canceled and happen for everything to work out this way, (This all happened today within the space of an hour) but I'm so grateful to the Lord.

Happy Monday friends! Woo howdy! What a jam packed week we have ahead of us... Work... Loads of laundry...dishes...BLOGSCARS! Eeeeeee! (Winners will be announced Sunday!) So much to do!
Anywho! Here are last week's images via my humble Kodak...I find that I'm using my iPhone a lot less which makes me wonder... If I hauled my dSLR around with me every where, everyday, would I use that more than my phone?!! Arrggh! That's a transition I would like to work toward, but right now it's just too heavy... All quiet on the western, So Cal front!! How's your corner of the world? Actually there IS something! I've got a cold. Boo! Haven't had one this bad in over a year. But yeah, not much is going on other than that... Just busy with work and trying to find time to spend with Lovey. I'm glad we don't have conflicting schedules, but we're both so tired at the end of the day that we're ready for bed by 9:30PM. (Maybe we're just getting old???) Anywho! Check out my outfit...Did this in Paint and WOW drawing with a mouse is hard!!! I kind of want to buy a stylus pen.. Anyone have one?

Hi friends! Happy Monday and happy morning to you! WOW! Haven't posted this early in the day in a looong time... Anywho, hope your weekend was spectacular. Mine was pretty chill. Highlight was Sunday Morning Breakfast Bible Study that Lovey and I host for some of our family. It's pretty grand! And my brain hurts after it. So I think I'm learning a lot. Haha! My lowlight was working right after the study.. Boo! Oh wells. Anywho.. On to my Kodak snippets from the week...

1. You know when you're walking outside and there's blue skies all around, not a cloud in the sky, not a tree overhead, and then suddenly a droplet falls on your face.... WHAT IS THAT?????!!!!!!!!??????

2. This weekend promises to be blur-acious. Kind of bummed.

3. Lovey has come down with a cold. And I'm trying my hardest not to get sick.

4. I tell him to kiss me on the lips (A TEST OF COURSE) and he ALWAYS leans in. He's a bad person.

5. I like telling people they're bad people for no reason.. It's funny try it!

6. For example:
Person 1: Hey do you know what time it is?
Person 2: No, sorry I don't have a watch.
Person 1: You're a bad person.

7. I don't know why I think that's funny...

8. I've started budgeting my moola with an actual budget program (YNAB). Pretty excited!

9. I'm going to be a bajillionaire by summer.

The Leap Year Letter

You may think I'm a little cheesy.. But that's okay, because I am a cheese-master. I know! Here's what I did....Four years ago (February 2008) I decided to write a letter to Lovey to be opened in 2012. A leap year love letter! I emailed it to myself and it got "buried" in my inbox, and I sort of forgot about it. It wasn't until earlier this month that I remembered that I had written said letter... And I've decided to share it on my blog. But first I have to edit it because it has some names and personal details (nothing bad) that need to be deleted out of respect for the people mentioned (again, nothing bad). Anywho! I think that this leap year you should think about writing one to yourself, or a loved one..Yup..It's a good idea. DO IT!

I've been wanting to do this for a while. Originally I was planning on doing a blog rewind on my one year blogversary. But I was thinking so much about my bloversary giveaway that I toootally missed the anniversary itself. I'm so lame sometimes. Anywho... This blog has been through a lot of makeovers.. Much like it's mother...But that's the fun of it I think. My blog reflects my chameleon like sensibilities--
No. Wait a minute. What's the animal that can change its appearance at the drop of a hat? Oh yeah, an octopus. Yup. Sometimes I'm an octopus... Meow! Anyyyywho. Back to my blog.....Here are the various phases Janette the Jongleur has been through:

Here's my first blog header ever.. Actually.. It's not. I can't find the original so I made a replica. Does anyone remember it!!? I think the only people following me at the time were Amy Lou Who, A Brilliant Melody, and Hearted Girl! WOW!

PS. I used to spell my name "Jeanette" to give it more of a Frenchish flair since "jongleur" is a french word... Weird and confusing, I know!

Remember my subtitle? "Say it with a French accent. It's fun." Bahahaha! I'm so corny. But really it was fun!

Now here's the deal...There are soooo many blogs that I started following when they were already well established and professionally made over... So you all know how I love taking pictures right? But I'm always complaining about how heavy my dSLR is... And whining about how I'd take more pictures if I had a smaller camera. Well, I finally purchased this Kodak Easy Share and it has made all the difference! So why did I get another, seemingly superfluous gadget???Don't you have an iPhone Janette? Isn't that enough? Well, yes and yes. But this venture has a fourfold objective. And here it is:

1. I want people to know that you can take good pictures with just about any camera ($50 bucks baby!) Really! You can!

2. I want to take more pictures to cultivate and nurture my artistic eye. I think shooting unique and artsy pictures takes practice, just like anything else. And this camera allows for stealthy and quick captures when I'm feeling creative.

3. I want better quality images than my iPhone can offer without the bulkiness of my dSLR.

4. I want to capture more of my every day life. I'm a historian at heart and I want to remember the everyday stuff and not just milestones. Savvy?

Feliz Friday amigas!!!!! Hope you all had a super easy breezy work week. Can't understand how it's Friday already! But here we are...Any good plans this weekend? Me? Not so much. In fact this weekend promises to be a blur, and it's kind of a bummer...I like my weekends nice n' slow. Anywho... Lets start off with the pictchas:

1. I hate when I'm cleaning the toilet and the water splashes out and a droplet hits my cheek...uuurgghhh! Gross!

2. I purchased a sweet itty bitty digital camera from Walmart... I think the deal I got is over, but here's a similar buy with less megapixels.

3. Going to LA tonight. Kind of love it there. So many lights, noise, toxic smog *sigh* So amazing!

4. If you've had a pelon candy thingy before we are pretty much besties. (Even if you've had it and hated it...)

5. Had a dream last night that I married an old, rich, powerful man. It was gross. And I wasn't allowed out of the mansion.

6. Regarding "Best Pose Ever" image above: I was trying to get my boots in the shot too...NOT marking my territory on that background foliage....

7. Just wanted to clarify.

8. Are dried cranberries in salads the best thing ever known to mankind or what?

9. I less than 3 you guys!!! I DO!

1. I had a spectacular-firework filled New Years Eve. (Look at me standing awkwardly in the middle of the street...)

2. I got a kind of-not really-sort of new hair cut.(It's a lot different than my main blog pic.)

3. Had major flashbacks...(Check out how short my hair used to be!)

4. I'll never forget this photo shoot with a dear friend.

5. I met some furry, cute, ~~and edible~~ neighbors... (Gosh. I'm so mean huh?)

7. This was probably one of the coolest things I did all month.. (In my opinion) Please watch, dance, and or toe-tap.

8. Went to Knott's Berry Farm with my family (Haven't blogged about that yet.. Yeesh!)

9. I had an excellent prime rib sandwich from Coco's (Didn't blog about that either, but it's worth mentioning and quite unforgettable) Fat kid much?

10. Scored 700, 450 on Bejeweled Blitz yesterday...(Personal new high score). Anyone else play that?

Oh me oh my... Look what I did to my poor little puppypants.... All in good fun. What can I say? I love hearts! ♥♥♥

Actually, at first I was trying to trim her tail fur.. (Her tail is soooo fluffy and full that when she sees it out of the corner of her eye, she thinks it's a cat and goes ballistic at all hours of the night.) So as I was trimming her tail, I thought, "Hey...It would be sooo cute if she had a little heart on her side..." See? I'm a highly logical person...I think I made it too big.. Poor pup... I was also thinking of trimming her hair short and turning her into a blond pup.. Whaddya think? Maybe in the summer perhaps?

Donuts & Val Vision

So many things happened this weekend. Mostly cleaning and moving furniture... I'm still exhausted from it all... And working Sundays is not fun... But the extra cash is much appreciated... Anywho...I got some donuts to kick off my first Sunday of work. You know...to soften the blow and all...And now I wish I hadn't. The donut shop down the street is too good. Quality...Service...Proximity... It's going to be hard to stay away. Boo!

Aren't donuts gorgeous???? Anyway... I made the following collage for my best pal, Val...She loves donuts.... As in...Loooooove!

Feliz Friday friends!

How is everyone today? Good? Bad? Not sure yet? Hungry? Yeah, I'm with you. I'm all of the aforementioned and how! Anywho! This week I have a lot of nonsensical things to share and just a few pictures from our random mid-week IN & OUT date. Usually Lovey and I go to eat here on the weekend... Without fail. (Bad huh?) But this time, we both called each other out of the blue after work and had the same thought: Dinner date! Nothing like a little meaty cheesy goodness on a Wednesday to make you forget you are working Sundays for the next few months... Boo!

And now the random thoughts:

1.Blogscar Buzz begins! I'm quite excited at the positive reception of this little idea... I really didn't think it was going to go over well. I thought it was going to be chirping crickets for me... But it's turning in a direction I didn't even see coming. I just wanted to show some love to some talented people and it turns out I'm not the only one. Votes are being cast like crazy! Yay!

2. The blogging community is strong, kind, and supportive.

3. Hello new friends! Please let me know if you have a blog! I follow back! Thanks!

4. I can't get a certain image out of my mind... Earlier this week I was driving to lunch and I saw a guy at a local high school (managed to get a 1 second glimpse) in the quad playing his tuba. He had a music stand and everything... I guess what was so beautiful is that there was no one around really. Just this kid playing his heart out whether or not there were ears to hear... It didn't matter.. He was just playing.

5. New dish washing sponges make me happy.

6. DIY Yarn Wrapped Earrings. They were heavy. But matched my outfit perfectly.

Sense & Sensibility: Netflix Instant Watch

It's been a while since I've done a Netflix Instant Watch recommendation...And I'm not really sure why I haven't mentioned this fantastic movie before! SENSE & SENSIBILITY! Have you seen it?!!! If not, you MUST! Now maybe at 13 you were brighter than me, but it took me foreverrr to figure out that Eleanor was "Sense", Marianne was "Sensibility", and that the whole story is an interplay of the required balance of both personalities. So now when I watch, it makes much more sense! No pun intended :-)

Yup! Yup! It's my favorite movie of all time.. Well.. It's a tie with Fiddler on the Roof, actually. So it's up there... Anywho! You know that I don't like summarizing or reviewing movies, so I'm just going to jump right in and show you some scenes that catch my attention without giving away too much of the story... Hopefully they'll convince you to watch again...or for the first time....

Barnyard Buddy Weekend!

This past weekend was my last work-free weekend for the next few months.. Kind of bummed, but I had a lovely last hoorah of sorts, so I'm happy. Here's the glory!

I'm neighbors with a few cute furry friends!! Aren' t they precious!?? They live at a nearby school. I had seen them a few times, but never had the chance to get close! So I suspect you'll be seeing more of my buddies soon! (Is it bad that after I pet a few cows I had a prime rib sandwich for dinner? Not so much, right?) One more thing... Has anyone else had a blast playing with the Dragon Dictation (speech to text) App (It's free!)???? Check it out! Valery and I couldn't stop laughing cause it was waaaayy off each time.

Feliz Friday//Random Rundown

Feliz Friday friends!!!! By now you know how my random rundom rundown works,right? I post some nonsensical pictures followed by some more nonsense...And then at the end you tell me something random and make me laugh and or feel happy.... Ready??? Away we go!

-You know how when you think you've gotten over something, but then you realize it's been a long time and you haven't quite moved on. No? Yes? I had an argument with someone over a year ago... Harsh words and false accusations were directed at Lovey and me...and while everyone involved seemingly patched things up, the wound is still there. I still can't even speak of it without choking back some tears. Pretty bad huh?

-Going to be super busy the next few months with work. Shall be absent from your blogs and mine. Hopefully not too absent. Boo!

- I went to Knott's Berry Farm this week.. It was a blast!!!! Still sorting through the pictures. But nothing spectacular, so I'm kind of bummed.

-Photographers remorse: When a day of shooting yields nothing but mediocre.

- Having shabu shabu at the beach this weekend, Lordwilling! Wee!!

-Does anyone else think of potential tidal waves while at the beach??? I can't help it. I think it every time...Plan my evacuation route...Calculate how fast I'd have to run to get to safety...Seriously.

-I like folding clothes.. Hanging them? Eh...Not so much. What about you?

-I was mean to Lovey last night for no reason.... Such a bad person I am! :-(

So I'm feeling pretty open and honest right now...Like I need to get a few things off my chest. A confession session of sorts. I've never seen The Wizard of Oz. I don’t like pumpkin spiced lattes. If I was A Boy...

Maybe you think I’m weird, but have you ever thought about what you would look like if you were a boy instead of a girl? I know, I know, sooo random… but I’ve thought about it and I’m actually convinced I’ve met him. His name is Gilbert, his mom makes killer menudo, and he works as a respitory therapist at a local hospital. He’s my pal too! (I’ll post a picture of him some time so you can see!) Anyway! (This is going somewhere I promise). So along the same line of random inquiry…I often think about what I would dress like if I was a boy (Gosh I sound so weird right now)…Here’s what I’ve come up with: A little preppy with a hint of edginess.. My name would be Juan and I would probably ride a motorcycle, and work at Starbucks… Bahaha! What about you? (Someone please reassure me that I'm not a total nut case and that you've had these thoughts before...)

Actually, as I was putting this board together, I found that my manly style was heavily influenced by Lovey’s emerging elan. Except a little more punk rock. (Cause I’d be a drummer too.) Haha! I don’t think that makes any sense, but neither does all the aforementioned, right? I apologize! 30-Flirty-Thriving Shooty Shoot.

Photo shoots are the best when there's no pressure and you have your easy going pal as a subject... I snagged Mellers for a "I just turned 30 and I'm still alive" photo shoot (her exact words) at a local train station.....It was her birthday present from me... And I'm loving these images.... Is she gorgeous or what? That guy from the TV show Roswell certainly thought so... We were at a U2 concert years back (front row!!) and he was all over her... In retrospect, I wish she hadn't had a bf at the time... He could've gotten us backstage, cause he was in their "Stuck in A Moment" music video... (Remember that?) Way to use your friend for her looks huh? Bahahaha! I'll try to post more captures of the shoot later... Right now I'm trying to work on a video of the shoot.. But the program keeps crashing...Boo!

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I live in a cognac, tannish pleather jacket. I love that thing. I wear it about 5 out of 7 days of the week. I'm big on jackets and sweaters... They're my favorite...Unfortunately, sunny socal is a little too warm at times to sport outerwear 24-7..even in the winter.... We're currently boasting 80s-low 90s 'round here. WHHHHATT???? Memory Lane: The Ultimate Flashback Edition

Ok, so I'm not sure what's going on 'round here, but I've been having MAJOR flashbacks lately... I keep coming across stuff from my past...Old lists, old songs, old hard drives, old TV shows, old homework assignments, old journal entries... Not sure what's going on... But its starting to concern me a little... It's like the Twilight Zone almost...No joke...

Here are a few examples.. I was talking to Lovey during dinner about a random conversation I had about 6 years ago...Just an awkward situation he didn't know about...Ok. Get this! An hour later, I was looking through some old computer files and I found something I wrote about that very conversation! A poem actually. Not convinced? Well, a few days after making my new years resolutions I found my new years resolution list from 2001. 2001!!!! Oh yeah, and last week I got a missed call from a girl I haven't seen since about 2004... Wacky weirdness, much? Well at least I think so!

Have you guys ever had trippy moments like this? I've never had such a series of concentrated coincidences... I'm sure the Lord is trying to teach me something from all this....But until I figure it out-- Guess I'll share some pictures instead :-) Circa 2004-2008! WOW! Wish I still had some of those clothes...and hair cuts...Bahhh! Short hair is calling my name...again.

Sort of new hair!

Oh look at me and my bad self with my new hair cut smiling with my right cheek forward cause I have a ~~monsterish and horrific~~ pimple on the other side...You like????? I like! What is it about hair cuts that make you feel spectacular and fresh and clean!????? I'd feel like a million bucks if it weren't for that pimple...Oh yeah...And the fact that I'm wearing my shirt backwards cause the front has a ton of holes (it's one of my faves and I simply can't get rid of it...not yet anyway!) So I guess I feel like 1,000 bucks after you subtract those factors...But that's okay... I'm happy anyway cause professionally cut bangs are the perfect way to start the week! (Last time I cut them myself...)

Feliz Friday prettypies! Isn't it grand to have the weekend back again so quickly? (I had a 4 day work week) I've got exciting plans for the weekend! I'm getting a hair cut! Wooo! Hello friends! It's Thursday...Yay! And it's time for another random rundom post...Yay! Actually I'm not that excited...In fact, I'm grumpy. Yup. PMSing and how! I just ate 3 chocolate chip cookies, watched Tangled for the third time, and cried. (What!!!? I didn't cry the first two times?) Oy! I hate feeling like this... Here we go...Pictures first.....

And now the randoms.....

1. I breakout sooo bad before my period..It's kind of nuts. And I kind of hate it.
2. I also get really bad dandruff about 3 days before... WHYYYYYY???
3. I guess what makes me angry about this whole being grumpy thing is that I have no reason to be grumpy...There are so many people who are sad and angry right now for legit reasons... But me? What's my excuse?
4. I babysat 2 of my nieces today. We ate dinner (fish sticks, grilled cheese, and chocolate milk), colored (a lot), went for a walk, built a fort, made cookies, watched Tangled, and cuddled during the movie.
5. See?? What I mean? I've got it good!
6. Anywho.
7. I started a Tumblr... Do any of you tumble? (Doubt I'll keep that up...)
8. In fact, I think I forgot my login info already.
9. Prayer is needed all around! Many people I know are struggling with major hurts in all areas of life... Death of loved ones, money woes, marriage woes, school woes, trust issues, family woes...WOW! Tough stuff going on :-(

Happy New Year to Me!

Welcome to 2012 friends! Can't believe we're here! Don't you love new years? Fresh starts? Firsts? Resolutions? I do! I especially enjoyed this NYE... Last year was quite uneventful. Lovey and I went to my parents' house and right after dinner (about 7:30pm) Lovey passed out on the couch. Yup! 7:30PM!! He woke up the next day at 10. For real. So you can imagine my elation when I found out he wanted to do something different this year...Something fun...

Lovey and I met up with his brother's family and in laws for some night time fun under a canopy of twinklies. It was crowded and crazy! No lack of shoving, shivering, or shenanigans here! But we just pretty much went for the fireworks. As soon as they were over we went home. Which is cool... I'm not much of a post midnight crowd kinda gal anyway.

Where were your first few seconds of the New Year spent?

I'm writing the following down per Lovey's request (recap of "one of the best weekends ever" in his opinion):

Friday: P&V came over after ministry to hang out and open up the Sabbath.

Sabbath: Slept in. Read pretty much all day. Relaxed. Napped. Relaxed. At sunset J&C came over for grilled cheese sandwiches, BBQ chicken, and chocolate milk. P&V surprised us when they showed up after canceling earlier that day. (WOO!) At 10:45pm we left to the "First Night" event (see pictures above)in our hometown. Got home around 1AM and stayed up talking about life, love, and new years in general.

Sunday: Went to Mt. Baldy with Lovey's dad. After ~~light~~ hiking we went to Giuseppe's (best Persian/Italian food everrr) and had koobideh outside in the fresh air near some lovely foliage (lol). Lovey "drank tea and was happy with his woman by his side". After lunch Lovey took me to Fry's Electronics to buy me a new toy. (If you follow me on IG you know what it is.)

Monday: Had an amazzzzing breakfast, read, relaxed, sat on our patio set while the sun was setting and pretty much did absolutely NOTHING all day.

What a terrific weekend!

2012 Goals/Resolutions/Must Dos

Oh hello 2012! You're going to take some time to get used to. It will be April before I stop accidentally writing 2011. But that's okay. I've got high hopes for you! Yup. I do. Here's my resolution list..

1. Take down holiday decorations by mid- January.
2. Clean my craft closet. (I keep mentioning this, but it's a BIG deal. I've got so much junk I need to organize and sort through!)
3. Rollerblade, walk, get a' movin'!
4. Do something spectacular for my birthday (it's a biggy this year!)
5. Have twins. (Might as well put that in there!)
6. Be better about returning phone calls, emails, thank you cards, etc.
7. Save my moola!
8. Read more!
9. Read the books in the Bible that I've been putting off (Isaiah, Chronicles, and 2 Corinthians). I can't seem to ever finish those... Ahh!)
10. Journal/Art Journal at least 3x a week.
11. Take my parents' dog for a walk every time I visit.
12. Take more pictures with my dSLR.
13. Be better about finishing things I start.
14. Drink more water.
15. Budget my time better.
16. Look into selling vintage-thrifted stuff online (Been wanting to do this for yearsssss!)
17. Book more photoshoots.
18. Master my current photo editing program (since purchasing Photoshop for $700 is simply not going to happen).
19. Spend more time with family. (I neglected them last year :-/ I spent so much time getting closer to new friends...And while I'm glad for it, I have no excuse for putting my fam second...)
20. Attempt to organize a So-Cal Blogger Meetup. Would be fun, I think! (And Lovey approved! WHAT??????!!!)
21. Finish my blog makeover. I realize I'm missing pages...But aaargghh! I hate html. And can't afford to pay someone to do it... Boo....

Ok... So there you have it.. It kind of bothers me that I have an uneven number of goals..but whatevs. I'm happy I've got goals to begin with!

Feliz Friday: AKA Last Post of 2011

Well, this is it prettypies! The last post of the year. It's been good. A year full of blessings...Lots of surprises...Many good memories and many bad ones too...But that's life...Beautiful and devastating...Yet worth every breath God graciously bestows.

So what's with the jongleur face overload you ask? Well, I kind of wanted to do a time progression sort of thingy majig to see how I've changed ~~and or aged through the year~~, but my pictures got out of order... Boo! Just getting them off my phone onto my computer was a 2 hour, post midnight nightmare... Double Boo! But anywho... Here's what I've gathered and what I've concluded from these images:

1. I love my animal print scarf. LOOOVE!
2. I make weird faces.
3. My bangs make me look like a different person.

Ta-ta 2011: A Survey

Thinking about the approaching new year makes me nostalgic about the passing one. How about you? Here's a New Year's survey of sorts to bid 2011 adieu! (You should take it too and send me the link so I can read your answers!!)

Best Film: I think the only movie I saw in theaters this year was The Smurfs. Bahaha! So I’m not going to say that was the best… Best movie I saw in 2011 was Invictus. Yup. I cried and cried.

Best Book: Hmm... I read a lot this year … I’m going to say The Committed Marriage by Esther Jungreis (this was heart changing for me..)

Best Song: I’ve rediscovered a lot of old school music from the 80s & 90s. So can’t really say.

Best Holiday: Sukkot! I’ve never been so worn out from somany parties.

Best Place Visited: Lake Tahoe is GORGEOUS! Been there before, but it's still the best.

Best purchase: Le iPhone. It’s been months and it still fascinates me.

New skill/hobby(ies): I learned to crochet! Sort of. I haven’t completed a full garment cause I’m a sack of lazy bones…But I guess I could if I really wanted to. Haha!

New favorite food: Brussel sprouts. Best discovery ever!

New favorite restaurant: No new restaurants.... Old ones are still my faves!

Most memorable moment: When Lovey and I took my parents to Nor Cal we had dinner in our hotel room (on our second to last night). We got a cooked chicken from the local grocery store and made a makeshift table out of a nightstand. We were playing my daddy’s favorite music on Pandora…and I was sitting on the floor enjoying my chicken and soaking in the perfection of the moment. It was glorious! My favorite people on earth in one room at one moment in time in the most beautiful place…Sigh!

Most valuable lesson(s) learned? My family is really all I have. We may not get along…it may be tricky at times…But they’re always there for me no matter what.

Now time to think about my resolutions...I'm making them easy this year...

Le Holiday Weekend Breakdown

Friday & Saturday: Rested. Rested. Rested. Oh yeah, and decorated some cookies. I really can't remember this far back, sadly. I think we just stayed home other than attend our congregation... Hmm... I can't remember what I ate either...other than Hello Dollies (easiest, besterest, no mixing bowl needed, second most amazing dessert in the world ever!)

Sunday: Lovey and I went to my sister's house for some food and games galore...I played a ton of table tennis and Foosball (STINK at that game!)...Oh yeah, and on our way home we got stuck in a traffic jam.. You know... The kind where people get out of their cars and start walking around and mingling on the freeway? Yeah.

Monday: Slept in. Did Laundry. 3 days worth of dishes. Went out to breakfast. Went to Justin's Grandma's house (Yup. She cooked some Persian amazingness again.) And then we went to the Persian market for some sangak and Bulgarian feta cheese. Yum-o!

Chanukah O Chanukah...

Well...our Chanukah party was a BIG success...despite the poopy incident I mentioned last time... I am sooooo grateful for the abundance of help I received from our good friends who made food, co-hosted, delivered tables and chairs, and who never failed to offer a helping hand or suggestion ~~when I looked distressed~~. I'm so beyond blessed!

I didn't get to mingle much, but I did have a happy time dancing with my nieces, eating latkes, and spinakopitaiauaoiaasss (or whatever they're called...aka pockets of joy)... And I really didn't mind going on a midnight shopping spree for bleach at our local CVS...It was quite enjoyable roaming the aisles with Lovey... (A good date idea for ya'll. Seriously. It was fun!) Oh yeah!!! And my gold sparkly skirt was loads of fun to wear too... You can't really see the sparklies..but trust me, they were there...

Random Rundoms

Things in offline-ville have been a little tricky lately...Do you ever feel like there's soooo much going on in every area of your life that you can't even process it? (And I'm not even speaking in a negative sense, either.) Sometimes life is full of good stuff, and bad stuff, and in-between stuff...And sometimes (like lately) the mix can be a little overwhelming. I'll give you an example...

During our Chanukah party on Saturday night, we had some plumbing problems and our sewage backed up into our bathtub. Poopy in the bathtub= NASTY = soaking it in bleach and isopropyl for hours. And yet on the other hand, life is so sweet. I'm in love... It's Chanukah... I get to see my family this weekend... It's good! Life is funny I guess... Sometimes there's bliss...sometimes there's poopy... And you just gotta learn to go with it.... Still learning....

Anywho!!! I guess now's a good time for a Rundom Random Rundown post huh? Yeah. I think so!

- I notice that while my blender is on, my teeth are clenched really hard.
- Watched 3 documentaries yesterday: Defamation, Jesus Save Me From Your Followers, and something about the authenticity of the Jesus Papyrus. (Can't remember the name..) They were all very interesting.
- Actually... I don't think I know the exact names of any of the documentaries I watched. Sorry.
- Going to Walmart today... You'll find me at the electronics section. Oh! And the craft section too! Wee!
- Haven't been thrifting in months! It's about time dontcha think? I think so!
- I plan on catching up on blogs today, so leave the porch light on for me!
-Feels like a Wonder Years watching-fluffy robe wearing- hot cocoa sipping-blog reading- kind of night. Who's with me!?
-Must buy some more chocolate milk for Lovey.

A Week Ago

Last Monday I pretty much had thee perfect day. This Monday (yesterday) was the opposite...Boo! I got in a tiff with Lovey cause I was angry at someone else and ended up taking it out on him (Baaad trait of mine.). Grrr... I hate when I'm a grumpypants like that...Anyway... I'd like to flashback to last week to my most magnificent Monday...(follow the gray arrow):

Cozy Cozy!

Before I was married to Lovey I lived with my parents. And because I have a billion siblings (or so it seems) I never had my own room growing up...Even until the day I moved out. Don't get me wrong...I didn't mind sharing with my sisters (most days), but I never had a space to call my own...No where to hang up a poster that was all mine (I'm the youngest and my siblings are wayyyy older than me). No place to try my hand at interior decorating...

Anywho. Where was I? Oh yes! So when I moved in with Lovey (day of our wedding), he had a pretty clear sense of what kind of home he wanted. I didn't. So we went with what he liked (which I liked cause I was in la-la land and didn't know any better) What did Lovey like? Something comfy in earth tones. No gaudiness or frills...Just earth tones and maybe a splash of muted reds here and there... Unfortunately, our wedding registry was compiled with this state of mind.

Now as the years have progressed, and Lovey has pretty much given me the "all-clear" when it comes to decorating (he has opinions on everything) I'm finally developing (in my mind at least) what I'd like my home to look like... It's taken me 20+ years to figure this out.. But hey.. Better late than never, right? And here's what I've come up with.. I like pretty clutter... Color... Comfort... Coziness... and earth tones (thanks Lovey). If I had a ton of money I'd be decorating my house like this:

Oh snip!

Well. I cut my bangs. I did it. No one to talk me out of it. But, there's a story and logic behind it... Here's how it happened: I've been wanting to get rid of the blue streak I have (had) in my hair... Dying it every week was just not my cup o'tea... Anywho. A few days ago, I snipped off the streak without even paying attention to symmetry, angles, or common decency...I just wanted it off! Major mistake! It was really obvious after that and I thought to myself, "Hmm. Well that's obvious!" Obviously. So I decided to try to even it and level it out a bit...And hence I birthed me some bangs.

Ok. Ok. There's more to it! You know how sometimes you just get in a weird funk.(ie that time of the month where the sunshine's annoying, and you want to eat cookies with pizza, and nothing but cutting your bangs makes you happy?) So I was in one of those moods...And I took the plunge. Afterwards I texted my hair stylist and bestie and told her I had done something really bad. She was kind and understanding. Nothing she can't fix with her cutting wizardry.

I think I look like Joan Jett....Lovey thinks I look like a boy. Bah! You can't please that man when it comes to my hair.

Winterization Weekend!!

Happy Monday Prettypies! How was the weekend for you? Did it treat you well? I hope so! I had a wonderific one, no doubt! Saw some friends I hadn't seen in a while, went to In & Out with Lovey, had a photoshoot, and a twilight BBQ...(Not in that order.) But I think the highlight of the weekend was finally hunkering down and putting up my Hanukkah slash Winter decor (ie. dreidel and snowflakes galore).

Duuuude guys!

Snowflakes are thee best! I tooootally recommend you guys looking up a tutorial (I used this one.) and joining in the flakey-fun! There's just something about cutting out nonsensical shapes that look like nothing special and then unfolding the magic when you're done... I had a blast making them, especially when my bestie, Val joined me. Woo-wee! Anywho.. Here's some snappage of what took place...

Off to put up some more snowflakes and maybe make some more dreidel garland....Eep!

Hola amigas! Como estan? Bien? Que bueno...me alegro.. Anywho.. Not much going on round these parts... What about you? Anything new and exciting? Me?? Well... the most exciting thing that has happened has been successful purchase and use of my glittery eyeliner... Haha! Just kidding.. Actually...there's much to be thankful for: Moms, Dads, caring friends, hot water, hot cocoa mix, a husband who likes to snuggle, snowflake tutorials.. Seriously thankful! Anywho...I really haven't been up to much lately.. Just trying to winterize my house and what not... Also I've been making out a ton of lists in preparation for our Hanukkah party next week.. So far I'm buying a boatload of salmon and potatoes for latkes... I'm also trying my best not to stress out about preparations as per yooj... I'm a partyzilla guys..It's not pretty...Anyway.. Can't believe that Fall is coming to a close...A little sad about that, but I love love love winter too. It's my second favorite season and mostly because I love wearing jackets and boots more than anything.. Anywho.. Here's how I did with my Fall Must-Dos list:

Ricky Martin & the 24 Hour Bug

Hello friends! Hope you all had a nice weekend… Mine was all right...Been under the weather, and it’s kind of a bummer. In fact. It's a little strange.... Here's my weird episode from yesterday… Tell me if you think this is peculiar:

So.. It’s Monday.. I’m eating lunch and thinking about how my photo shoot went on Sunday (not that great…urgghh...more on that later)… After a few bites of my soup and salad I start seeing colorful and pulsing zigzag lines out of the corner of my right eye. Guh-rate! Also I couldn’t really see the right side of words... I was looking at this flyer with the word “Lunch” on it... but all I could really see was “lun” The rest was sort of blurry. I carried on, cause other than that weirdness, I felt fine. I said a prayer and it went away a few minutes later...

Ok.. So at this point, lunch is over. I get back to the office and plop down in my chair and then begins a massive and merciless headache. I rarely get headaches and have major sympathy for those people who suffer from migraines (soo sorry guys). Anywho.. The headache wouldn’t go away…Even my trusty pressure point trick failed me. Boo! A few minutes into the headache I started getting intense hot flashes, followed by a spell of chills and cold flashes. All I’m thinking at this point is “what the hey????!”. So I told the ol’ boss that I was heading home early cause I was starting to feel a bit queasy too. (Insert more prayer here...Mostly consisting of humble requests that I would not pukie in my car on the way home) <<<Dreaded fear of mine.

Phew!

I made it home safe, got in my jammies and then proceeded to indecisively pace in that space between my bedroom and the bathroom for a few minutes...More like seconds...cause after a little bit of that I was soon hugging Mr. Bowl. Yuck. I hate throwing up more than anything in the world. It’s thee worst…After this grossness, I grabbed a blanky, headed to my couch and took a nap. Peaceful rest?? Umm.. Not really! I had a scary dream I was Ricky Martin's girlfriend (!!!!) and that we were at Disneyland in line for Splash Mountain (pinnacle of weirdness!)... Oh boy! (Do you get weird dreams when you're sick? BIZARRE!)Glad that's over...

Anywho!

My tummy is still unsettled and I’ve been chugging kefir and nibbling on saltines (life savers)... Still waiting to feel completely normal... But soo thankful I feel much better than yesterday! Praise the Lord!

So…how are you guys? Haha!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Have I mentioned that Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday ever?? Well... It is.. And it's worth mentioning again...and again...Anywho.... This year's was memorable to the maxxxx! It was the first Thanksgiving that was not spent with my family. And I confess I was a little sad...a little down-trodden...No Mommy asking me to tell her what I thought about her turkey this year..."Too dry mija?" "No ma! It's better than last year!" "That's what you said last year mija.." "But it's the truth ma!" Nope, this year, was different indeed. I spent most of the weekend with Lovey's family..and caught a glimpse of mine on Friday.. Don't get me wrong.. It was a blast hanging out with Lovey's fam...but part of me was still a little homesick and sad that I didn't get to help my mom slather the bird in butter and sour cream... Boo! Anywho.. Enough with the sappiness.. Instead, I'll tell you what I did do this weekend that brought me elation beyond imagination...Hey. That rhymed.

Highlight of this year's Thanksgiving was my creamed corn (it will change yo' life!) and getting my makeup done by my sister-in-law. (not pictured)

Heeeeeeelllllloooo Friends! Why does it seem like foreverssss since I’ve scampered through bloggerville? Is it just me? I really do miss you guys…I’m not sure how it’s possible to miss someone I’ve never met or talked to “live” but I do. Do. Do. Do. Anywho! The past few days are mostly a blur. There are some moments of clarity however involving mountains of turkey, gravy, and stuffing… And I do remember eating some pumpkin pie. But other than that…well... It’s all kind of a food-coma-fog. As much as I’d like to share some images of my turkey eating marathon…I shall refrain and save those for later. Instead, I’m going to show you some snaps from two days before T-Day. Why? Cause I like to keep things in chronological order as much as possible. So away we go!!

My best childhood pal, Melissa, just returned from a long vacay and I hadn’t seen her in mooonths…(she was on a 3 mos vacay!!! WHATT???) So we got together for a Yogurtland date and a nature walk at a local arboretum. We walked for hours, caught up on our lives, and snapped a few pictures of each other along the way. It was glorious! Garsh! I'm soooooo attractive while I'm eating. Bahhaha! Poor Lovey.

Seriously, Thanksgiving Day is probably my second favorite holiday everrrrrr. (My first fave is Passover.) I love love love turkey...and creamed corn..and gravy... and biscuits...and stuffing....and any other glorious goodness that I forgot to mention. So that's what I'm going to be doing the next few days.. Seeing the family.. eating some turkey.. seeing more family.. eating more turkey... It's going to be glorious!!! Anyway...I hope you guys have a good weekend..Be thankful, hug someone you love, don't get trampled on at any Black Friday sales, drink responsibly, donate blood, and look both ways before crossing the street.. Well friends... I feel much better today. Sadly, I think the root of my issues yesterday was hunger. Sad, but true. Anyway... This week feels kind of weird if you're stateside...Doesn't it? It's a short week due to Thanksgiving (for non-US residents who may not be aware) and I'm not sure if I like it. I feel like I have a ton of stuff to do before Thursday and I don't feel like doing it cause I'm a sack of lazybones... Must be the cooler temps..cause seriously, all I want to do is lay on the couch in my fluffy red robe, sip on my chai tea, and read blogs... Maybe next week. Anywho. Yup. Monday was the highlight of my week (thus far). Not sure how that can be topped.... I spent all afternoon with my sister looking through racks of cute clothes, laughing, and eating. She's a blaaaast!! We're about 7 years apart and when we were little she hated me cause Mom forced her to play Barbies with me... She loves me now though. I'm her favorite sibling. Or so I'd like to think...(I'm the baby you know.) Anywho, she bought me a few rings and a Star Wars poster ~~for Lovey~~. What a gal! So blessed she's my sissy..And so blessed she likes me now. (Bahaha!)

Well, last week I got my first pair of teal tights...It seemed like a good idea at the time. But when I got home, I realized I didn't really know what to pair them with...Hello Chictopia!!! I did a customized search on "bold tights" and found some inspiration for how to style my teal pretties. I guess my two obvious options are pairing them with a skirt...or a dress (uurrghhh) and with something a little more neutral on top. Hmm....

What Would You Do? (The Trash Snooper Edition)

It's been a while since I've done one of these.. Last time you guys helped me out when a neighbor came over to ask for a donation for a party we were not attending...Remember? Okay... So here's another one that causes me some hmms and head-scratches...

Sunday is our trash day....Trash day means Lovey takes out the garbage and then proceeds to make his weekly comment about some people that come around and take out the aluminum cans and plastic bottles from our recycle bin (there aren't any, btw). Yesterday there was a gentleman just across the street digging through our neighbor's rubbish, but I guess it didn't look like he was looking for recyclables..This made Lovey a little suspicious...if this man wasn't looking for cans...then what else was he looking for? Moving boxes perhaps?
Anywho!
Lovey wanted to call the police because it was "an invasion of privacy for strangers to be looking through our personal poo and residue". Now, while we don't throw out any personal information (other than the occasional grocery list), Lovey was concerned that we might be "careless some day and you know what identity thieves can do in this day and age...". I understand his concern... I'm concerned myself... I can't afford for someone to steal my identity... (And I saw that movie where that serial killer went through garbage to figure stuff out about his next victim) I'm sooo dramatic! Ha! So I guess my question is: Would you call the cops on someone snooping through your personal poo (allegedly looking for cans)? I don't think it's a big deal...But then again...Did you see that movie?????!!!!! Eek!

Remember I mentioned I was doing a year long photography project with a friend? Well here is my submission for the second round. This week's theme (SPACE) was a little tricky... I took pictures of so many random things trying to capture something worthwhile. In the end I decided on this corner of my home... It's where Lovey puts his shoes every day after work (or school). It's a sweet space... In every sense of the phrase.. It's the space that reminds me of my hard working husband...of how tired he looks after being stuck in traffic for an hour...of how he takes off his shoes every day, the same way...first the left...then the right...And finally...after he's done... the sweet hello-kiss that tells me he's finally home...

So...just wanted to share a picture of a tree...Well... part of a tree. Why? Well, I like trees. I do. A lot. But this week my photographic radar was acutely locked and loaded on limbs of green. A friend from University (who also happens to be a photographer) wanted to start a collaborative project with yours truly. Basically, each week we have a theme or object we must photograph. At the end of the week we submit our images to one another and then create a diptich of said images. I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to share her work (for now) So I'll just share mine....

It's so glowy and happy! I like glowy trees.

Yup! It's time for another installment of Photo Femme Force! Today in Jongleurville, I've got an extra fierce and talented femme fatale lined up! Stephanie from Big Mario Life has graciously accepted the request to pick her brain and poke around her camera bag... Isn't she kind? And gorgeous!?? Well, she's got talent too! Here's her interview:

Anyone visiting your blog, (Big Mario Life) can see that you’ve got heaps of picture-capturing talent. Have you had any formal training or schooling in photography or art?
First, thank you so much for asking me to participate in your Photo Femme series! I've loved reading all the past posts and "meeting" new photographers so I'm super excited to be a part of it, too. As far as formal training - sorta. I took a class in high school (about 15 years ago!!) where we made pinhole cameras out of oatmeal boxes and learned the technical aspects of composition, exposure, etc. I really wanted to learn how to work in the darkroom so I took another photography class in college. Since I was registered in a photog class, I had access to the darkroom on campus whenever I wanted. I learned how to process film and develop prints, and up until 2009, I shot solely on film. It started getting crazy expensive so I finally bought a digital camera. With all things digital, I'm completely self-taught. I learned from reading my camera's manual, some blogs, and a book about Photoshop for photographers. It's sometimes takes me a while to figure things out but it's so exciting to constantly be learning more about an art form I've fallen in love with.

What kind equipment do you have in your photographic arsenal (camera model, lenses, etc)?
I have a Canon Rebel XSi. As far as lenses, I have Canon's 50mm 1.8, and 28-135mm f3.5-5.6. I also just ordered the 50mm 1.4 and cannot wait to play with it! For accessories, I have the standard chargers, batteries, memory cards, etc. and Canon's Speedlight 430EX II for an external flash.

What’s your next photo investment? A new lens perhaps?
I'm currently saving up to buy a Canon 5D Mark II. I'm starting up my own photography business shooting weddings and portraits (I shot my first wedding as the primary photographer just last month!). Now, I do not believe that having the best equipment makes you a great photographer. Being a good photographer is all about your skill and talent. I've seen some amazing, emotion-filled photos taken on an iPhone and really crappy, dull photos shot on the most expensive equipment out there. But I do think that if you're charging someone a fee to document one of the most important days of their lives, they expect a certain level of quality in the final product. For me, upgrading my equipment will help me provide that level of work to my clients.

If you're interested in experimenting with new equipment but don't know what you want or can't financially commit to it just yet, I highly suggest checking to see if there's a place in your area where you can rent camera equipment. I rented a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 to shoot the wedding last month. That's a $2300 lens and I rented it from Thursday evening to Monday afternoon for just $75!!

Do you use Photoshop or other image enhancing software to edit your images?
I use Photoshop CS5 for editing/post-processing. When I worked with film in the darkroom, I loved experimenting with different techniques to change the look of a photo - adding texture with crumpled tissue paper, sepia toning, double exposure, etc. I've taken that same experimental approach to working in Photoshop. I don't like my photos to look too "processed" - and most of the time I don't end up doing anything to them besides check white balance and exposure - but it's fun to play with different actions and processing techniques. Sometimes you stumble onto something that's pretty much made from awesome sauce.

Can you briefly tell us the story behind your very own Etsy shop?
After I got back from Italy in 2009, a lot of people kept asking if they could buy prints of some of my pictures. I didn't have anything in place to sell them so I wasn't sure what to do. About a year later, I finally decided to open an Etsy shop. I love Etsy and always order from it whenever I can (I just used it to find a designer for my business cards!). So when I was trying to figure out a way to sell prints, Etsy made the most sense. I haven't been too good at marketing it but I'm planning on ramping up my efforts with the start of my new business.

Can you direct us to some photographers you like?
Sure! Cindy Sherman, Ralph Eugene Meatyard, and Henry Cartier-Bresson are some of my fave old-school photographers. As far as modern inspiration, some of my go-to photog blogs are Eye Poetry, Shutter Sisters, Mortal Muses, Canelle et Vanille (not really a photog blog but she has some pretty drool-worthy food photos), and The Coffee Shop Blog, which has tons of free actions that work with pretty much every version of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

Would you like to share any tips on what it takes to get a great picture?
There are a lot of technical things that make a good picture - composition, exposure, plane of focus - but for me, a truly great picture conveys emotions. A great picture makes you feel something. It can be totally out of focus or underexposed or whatever, but if it makes you pause - if you linger on that photo just a little bit longer than you do with another - then it's a great photo. If it caught your eye and made you feel something.... anything - happiness, sadness, confusion, nostalgia - then who cares if it's not technically perfect?

And now for the mother of all questions for (most) potential new camera buyers… Canon or Nikon?
As you could probably tell from my other answers, I'm a Canon girl. Honestly, I think both companies make fantastic cameras and it really just comes down to personal taste. That being said, my personal taste is Canon. I find Canons to be more user friendly and I love the wide variety of bodies and lenses available. Plus, for some reason, all the serious amateur and professional photographers I know use Canon so I had a lot of great Canon recommendations when I was shopping around for a new camera.

The Scary Spider Incident

In my life I've had my fair share of scary spider/insect incidents...Once, I was putting on a sweater and I thought somehow a price tag had gotten stuck in one of the sleeves.. I reached my hand in said sleeve to grab said price tag. No big deal... As I began pulling out the tag, I realized it was not a tag at all.... but something BIG. And nasty. And with legs. Disgusted, I threw whatever it was on the floor and to my horror saw that it was my worst nightmare. A ginormous potato bug. (I HATE potato bugs!!). See? Scary insect history right?! (I'll spare you the more severe, heebie jeebie-inducing incidents for another day...)

Anywho... Let me tell you about what happened yesterday...

I was in my car sitting at a stop light changing the song on Pandora (coming home from a failed boot shopping trip)... I glanced up at the stoplight to see if it had turned green and instead noticed a spider (yellow and brown) near my visor... Well...being the calm and collected individual that I am, I didn't freak out. I've been in a similar scenario before. In fact one time, a spider dangled right in front of my face while I was driving... (Business as usual, right?) I hurriedly looked for something to squash the beasty...(No mercy would be shown. If there's one thing I can't allow, it's spiders claiming their stake and raising their kids in my automobile) So, I finally found an empty cup to do the job...(Insert deep breath)

I inched my cup (bottoms down) toward my unwelcome passenger... Slowly.... Slowly.... Smash! (Success!! Hooray!! Oh no! Wait a minute!) Nevermind! The fiendish critter jumped (I HATE jumping spiders)....fell on my thigh and crawled in between my legs and heaven knows where else. (Thank God I was wearing jeans.) Of course, the light turned green at this fortuitous moment... So what did I do? I put my foot on the gas, drove on, and then began wriggling like a maniac trying to squash the spider with my bum . After about 2 minutes of wriggling I stopped and composed myself. (Deep breath Janette. Think.) I was about 2 miles from home...and I decided I wasn't going to pull over... I would just bear the consequences of having a potentially poisonous and burrowing spider between my legs.

The drive home lasted foreverrrrr and a million thoughts raced through my head. Mainly just two thoughts. One: Is there a hole in my jeans near my secrets?!!!!! And two: Oh gosh! It's crawled up to my hair somehow, I just know it!!!!!! Yipes! You can imagine my distress. I cringed a lot, whimpered ~~a little~~, didn't wait my turn at a 4-way stop, and cut off an elderly couple. (I knew they'd understand if they knew what was really going on!)
And now here's the happy ending...

I finally pulled into my driveway, exited my car, dusted my bum, and looked at my driver's seat... There in a little curled up ball, I found my unwelcome companion...dead...squashed by my weight, and smashed a second time (for good measure) So why am I sharing this story? Well two reasons: 1.) I'm proud of the fact that I was fairly collected and composed under such a high stress situation. And 2.) I killed a spider with my butt............................Have you ever done that? Nah. Didn't think so ;-)

Memory Lane: Las Vegas Dinner

So I've decided to start a new "feature" here in Jongleurville titled Memory Lane (I know, I know. Cheeseball title that requires further brainstorming) The concept is coolcakes (in my opinion) and I encourage you to participate! Here's the gist. I shall be digging through my digital files in search of old photos and then sharing some significant and happy, gem-like memories from my past. This will serve two purposes. 1.) This feature will become my online digital scrapbook of sorts. and 2.) You will get to know the "pre-jongleur, pre-blog" Janette a little bit better... I'm all about it!

Sooo...Lets get this show on the road....

My first entry is from 2005. (I think) At the time my brothers were training to be pilots and in an attempt to rack up "practice hours" they often flew to nearby places for lunch and dinner dates. Anywho. This particular time we (my besterest childhood friend and I) were invited to Las Vegas. I called Melissa and asked her if she wanted to go... and she said summertime would be the best time to go to Vegas...And I interjected with, "No girl... I meant for dinner... Tonight!" (Ahh my sweet jet setting days!) So we took off (no pun intended) around 5pm and had dinner at the Monte Carlo...And after dinner we walked around for about an hour before we headed home. Oh sweet bliss!

Highlight: People at the airport were following us and trying to figure out if we were celebrities (since we arrived in the small aircraft terminal). lol Yeah.. Not with the outfit I'm wearing. What the heck was I thinking????!!!
Lowlight: The flight. My brothers only had a few months of practice under their belts... SCCCARRRY much???!

Anywho!

Partied Out

What a day! What. A. Day!
I think it's finally official...
I'm partied out guys! Pretty much my life these past few weeks has consisted of the following pattern: work...prepare for party...party...recover from party...work...prepare for party....party...etc. etc. Don't get me wrong, I love the people we fellowship with and I love the memories that have been birthed, but I'm just plain ol' tired. All I want to do is take a snoozy, relax, and not worry about what dish to prepare for dinner... Yet, I see the light at the end of this tunnel! Our last Sukkot get-together is tonight.

My Birthday Post. Finally.

Well, it's been months since my birthday and I figured it's safe to post what I did on the actual day and not the pretend one I made up to get potential identity thiefs off my tracks...

It was a pretty magical day! My birthday fun began at work where I was greeted with balloons, gladiolas, chocolate milk, candy, gum (LOVE) and later a trip to our local Cheesecake Factory for lunch! (I had a salad and the best strawberry shortcake my boss's money could buy. It was delicious!) After work I went home and made plans with my parents, sisters, and their kids to meet at our local park for some outdoor family fun (It's the simple things that make me happy!) Plans got a little confused and nobody showed up until about 1 hour to sunset. (Boo!) But we made the most of it by playing Chinese jump rope, kickball, and eating greasy take out in the fading sunlight. (Uh... Can you say sheer, unadulterated bliss???) Once the mosquitoes made their unwelcome rounds we made our way back home for some birthday pies and presents. Nothing is better than ending a birthday surrounded by Lovey and my familia! I'm so blessed!

PS. Did you ever play Chinese jumprope? You know, the kind made out of rubber bands? If so, what was your technique?

You know, I’ve never been much of a challenge undertaker (in respect to blogs and such). Project 360 or P52? Wear a dress every day of the week for a month straight? Yipes! I’ll pass! ~~And not just because I’m not a dress person…~~ Such challenges are ~~ego-wounding~~ reminders that I cannot finish things I start… a major character flaw… I tend to have commitment issues with such endeavors... It drives me crazy and I can't help it. But I want to change (I seriously just typed "won't change"...see how deep rooted this whole issue is?)

ANYWHO! Back to what I was saying...

Suzzie sent me an invite to participate in a health challenge she’s hosting on her blog, Healthy. Strong. Beautiful. I was a little hesitant...and really wanted to say no, but as she explained the details, I figured this kind of challenge would be beneficial to my body and mind and helpful in breaking bad habits. No other artist's music has moved me to tears with such frequency as Ms. Fraser's. I love this girl's music! Her style, her lyrics, the depth she conveys in each tune... She is talented... beautiful...And I think she looks like my bestie, Val.

Le Weekend Recap

Ok, so this weekend was pretty much a doozy.. Here's the recap, along with some snaps from last week...

-Observed Yom Kippur.
-Went to a Break-the-Fast BBQ
-Ate way too much food and caffeine at said BBQ.
-Fell asleep at 4am!!!!
-Woke up at 8am. (Boo!)

-Laundry.
-Visited Lovey's Grandma's house.
-Lovey's Uncle (age 40+) had a show and tell session complete with books, light sabers, infrared lights, health juice samples, and promotional pens. (I wish I was kidding...)
-Took a nap.
-Went to my mom's house to visit my sissy who is in town.
-Slept. Slept. Slept.

These next few weeks are gonna be hectic.. Lots of parties! And when I say lots, I mean lots!

Bet you didn't recognize me, right? Ha! Okay, very minor minor changes...although I think I lost about a 1lb of scalp skin from my head...sorry...TMI..Lily told me it wasn't normal to have your scalp peel after a dye job...It's not, right? Oh wells... Anywho... I'm taking this new head of hair over to an evening BBQ on Saturday and to Lovey's Grammy's house on Sunday.(Lordwilling) Looking forward to it! How about you? Where are you taking your faces this weekend?
